Why is my website not bringing in quote requests?

The short answer

Most trade websites that get no enquiries have the same few problems: they are slow or awkward on phones, the phone number and quote form are hard to find, there are few real photos of work and they do not say which areas are covered. Fixing those usually makes the biggest difference.

It does not work well on a phone

Most people looking for a tradesperson are on their phone. If text is tiny, pages are slow or buttons are hard to tap, they give up and try the next result.

Getting in touch takes too much effort

Your phone number should be one tap away on every page, and your quote form should be short. Long forms with lots of required fields put people off.

There is no proof of your work

Stock photos and generic text do not win jobs. Real photos of finished work, ideally with before and after shots, do most of the selling.

It does not say where you work

If your site does not mention the towns you cover, Google struggles to show you to local people, and visitors are not sure you will come to them.

Questions

Common questions

How do I know if my website is slow?

Run it through our free website audit. It checks speed on phones and computers and explains the results in plain language.

Is it better to fix my website or start again?

It depends on how it was built and what is wrong. Sometimes a few fixes are enough. If the site is old, slow and hard to update, a new one is often better value. We will give you an honest view either way.
